Mich. Judge Steps Off Bench to Subdue ‘Defiant’ Man During Court Hearing

Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain helped tackle a defiant man to the ground during a hearing, shouting “tase his ass right now” as he approached him. So reports MLive.

Jacob Larson, who is said to have gotten testy with the judge and blamed his alleged “stalking behavior” on the woman he was in trouble for allegedly pursuing, saw his sentence jump from three days to 93 days as a result of his courtroom behavior.

Larsen resisted when a deputized law clerk tried to take him into custody. A Jackson County chief circuit judge noted in the article that judges have the power to take action necessary to “maintain order in the courtroom," and also pointed out circuit court judges have arresting powers.
