Jailed Twin Confesses to Murder Other Twin Convicted of Committing

Karl Smith, who is in prison serving a 99-year sentence for an armed robbery that resulted in a boy being shot, confessed to a 2003 murder that led to the imprisonment of his identical twin brother, Kevin Dugar. So reports the Independent.

However, some are skeptical that the admission is an attempt to free Dugar, since Smith is already locked up for the foreseeable future. Smith's appeal of his sentence was recently denied. He said he didn't admit to the murder at the time of his brother's trial because, "I didn’t and couldn’t find the strength to do so."

Based on Smith's admission, the judge could decide to grant Dugar a new trial for the Chicago slaying.
