NASCAR Faces $500M Racial Discrimination Suit

NASCAR, its parent company International Speedway Corp, and 18 racing teams are facing a $500 million lawsuit that accuses the auto racing organization of racial discrimination. So reports Reuters.

The suit alleges NASCAR prevented black-owned teams and drivers from competing in races, including those in the Sprint Cup Series. Terrance Cox and his company, Diversity Motorsports Racing LLC, filed the lawsuit in U.S. district court in Manhattan. The plaintiffs said none of the 48 Sprint Cup drivers are black and only one racing team has partial African American ownership. Only one driver in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series circuit is black.
