NFL Concussion Case Heading to Top Court

A late appeal to a settlement between the NFL and players impacted by head injuries could possible delay payouts scheduled in the near future. So reports ESPN.

The appeal comes from the son of civil rights activist and All-Star Carlton "Cookie" Gilchrist, who claims the settlement proceeded without a more thorough scientific review of evidence presented by both sides.

Those who support the approximately $1 billion settlement said those impacted need the money soon, though. Others are concerned the settlement does not cover future CTE cases. Attorneys for the Gilchrist family claim the settlement approved with the eager support of attorneys expecting a large payday.
