The company used a device to detect emissions checks and reduce the "particulates and smog-causing oxides of nitrogen," during the tests. Certain models of the VW Beetle, VW Golf, VW Jetta, VW Passat and Audi A3 are included in the settlement, the story reads. The deal is not yet done and a public comment period will precede finalization from the EPA, FTC, Justice Department and California Air Resources Board.
