Deadlocked Supreme Court Kills Obama Immigration Plan

A lower court's decision that President Obama exceeded his authority with an executive action protecting illegal immigrants from deportation will stand thanks to a deadlocked Supreme Court. So reports The New York Daily News.

President Obama expressed disappointment with the ruling while also lamenting the need for a ninth justice to break 4-4 ties in the nation’s highest court. Obama’s actions would have protected up to 4 million undocumented immigrants and would have given them eligibility for work permits. Texas led the challenge that included 26 states, all run by Republican’s. The tie vote does not create a precedent.
