Parents Who Starved Their Child to Death Get Life Sentences

The parents of a Michigan child whom paramedics found malnourished and unresponsive hours before she was declared dead have been sentenced to life in prison without parole. So reports The Times Herald.

Andrew Maison and Hilery Maison were found guilty in January 2016 of first-degree murder in connection with the death of five-year-old Mackenzie, who weighed only 25 pounds on the day she died. In January, the Maisons were also convicted of first-degree child abuse and torture of Mackenzie and her three-year-old sister, Makayla, who has since doubled her weight and continues to thrive.
