Edward Snowden’s proliferation of leaked documents has again caused an international stir. Documents posted on the website the Intercept show British intelligence agencies and the NSA stole codes that would ultimately allow them to eavesdrop on mobile phone users. So reports the Associated Press.
According to the story, Netherlands-based Gemalto, a “subscriber identity module” manufacturer was the target of the U.S. and British efforts. The story notes there is no evidence the data was being used for surveillance of non-valid intelligence targets or any details on how the surveillance was employed.
