Canadian Judge Under Investigation for Asking Rape Victim Outrageous Questions

A Canadian judicial review board is investigating a Canadian federal court judge for what law school professors have called his “sexist and degrading” behavior during a sexual assault case. So reports the New York Post.

Judge Robin Camp told the complainant, a 19-year-old homeless woman who alleged she’d been raped in a bathroom during a house party, that, when she asked the alleged offender if he had a condom, she created “an inescapable conclusion (that) if you have one, I’m happy to have sex with you.”

Camp also asked the complainant why she “couldn’t just keep [her] knees together,” among other offensive questions. Camp’s decision to acquit the offender was later overturned. Law professors from two Canadian law schools who drafted an 11-page complaint describing Camp’s behavior during the trial are calling for his removal from the bench.
