Man Who Shot His Own 'Dangerous' Dog May Face Charges

Police in New Hampshire are investigating whether a man violated the law by shooting his own dog—an act he claimed to have committed because the dog was dangerous. So reports Fox News.

The dog’s owner first tried to give away the dog on Facebook, then decided to put it down himself, authorities say. According to the dog’s owner, the mixed breed animal had tried to attack several children. The applicable animal cruelty statute prohibits harming an animal or treating it cruelly, but doesn’t directly address killing a potentially dangerous dog. People found guilty of violating that law face fines or jail time.
