New York AG Goes After Airbnb Users

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has subpoenaed information about whether users of the online subletting service Airbnb violate housing and occupancy tax laws. So reports Bloomberg.

A spokesman for the San Francisco-based company, which provides a platform that facilitates the short-term rental of private homes and apartments, says Schneiderman is “targeting thousands of regular New Yorkers just trying to make ends meet.” Schneiderman, however, says he is investigating large-scale users of the service, and isn’t trying to eliminate the use of Airbnb completely.
