Mass. AG Points to Comments at OxyContin Rollout Party in Court Docs

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey has accused OxyContin manufacturer Purdue Pharma, its executives and members of the Sackler family of “deceiving patients and doctors” about the risks associated with prescribing opioids. So reports Associated Press.

The filing notes at a party in the 1990s, one of the family members owning Purdue Pharma said to expect a “blizzard” of prescriptions. The Massachusetts litigation is in addition to nearly 1,500 lawsuits filed by other governments under the oversight of a Cleveland judge. The Massachusetts complaint is the first from a state to personally name company executives.
