Native American Tribe Thwarted in Attempt to Block N.D. Voter ID Law

The Spirit Lake Tribe of North Dakota filed an emergency motion to prevent the state from enacting part of its new voter identification law only to see it blocked by a judge. So reports ABC News.

The judge said blocking part of the law so close to Election Day would cause confusion. The new law requires all voters to have an ID with a residential address listed in order to cast a vote.

The Spirit Lake Tribe said around 200 people live on the reservation without a residential street address.
