Death Row Inmate Asks for Chair, Call’s Tenn.’s ‘Three-drug Cocktail’ Unconstitutional

The execution of Edmund Zagorski has been put on hold after a federal judge ordered the state of Tennessee to halt its plans. So reports The Seattle Times.

Zagorski requested death by electric chair, while the state had planned for a lethal injection, prompting U.S. District Judge Aleta Trauger to grant a motion by Zagorski’s attorney.

Zagorski requested electrocution due to his perception that the state’s “three-drug cocktail” violates his constitutional rights. Tennessee is one of nine states allowing electrocutions.
