Uber on the Hook for $148M After Data Breach Settlement

Uber is set to pay $148 million after failing to notify customers and drivers of a 2016 data breach. So reports CBS News.

The company will also tighten its cyber security as a result of the settlement agreement. Uber hid the breach, initially, and paid ransom to the hackers who stole personal information about users and drivers.

Uber must comply with consumer protection laws and immediately notify authorities of any more breaches, as well as ensure user data is protected on third-party platforms, per the terms of the settlement.
