Jury Awards $289M in Roundup Weedkiller Case

A San Francisco jury awarded Dewayne Johnson, who has terminal cancer, $289 million in damages after he claimed Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller was responsible for making him sick. So reports CNN.

The former groundskeeper's case was the first of its kind to go to trial due to a California law that expedites cases for the terminally ill. Hundreds of patients claimed the popular weedkiller gave them cancer. Monsanto issued a statement defending its product and vowing to appeal.
