Rape Survivor Awarded $1B by Georgia Jury

A Georgia jury awarded Hope Cheston what could be the largest sexual assault payout in the history of the nation. So reports Bustle.

Cheston was 14 years old when an apartment complex security guard allegedly raped her, and six years later she has been awarded $1 billion from the company that employed the guard. 

The guard is serving a 20-year sentence for statutory rape. The company, Crime Prevention Agency Inc., is likely to appeal and a judge could reduce the damages decided upon by the jury.
