Padilla Under Fire for Voting Assistance Directive

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla is facing a lawsuit after civil rights groups accused him of inhibiting 80,000 limited-English-proficiency voters. So reports NBC News.

The suit alleges a directive from Padilla fails to provide language assistance required under state law. Many of those affected speak Spanish, Arabic and Farsi. The lawsuit claims Padilla used improper methodology to determine which jurisdictions require assistance and limited the number of language minorities eligible for assistance.
