‘Agitated’ Defense Attorney Resigns Mid-proceeding

Portland defense attorney Scott Upham allegedly walked out on his client and quit his case in protest mid-hearing. So reports the Associated Press.

Upham, a former district attorney, was representing basketball coach and former substitute teacher Dylan Todd Sullivan before growing “agitated” and resigning. Sullivan is fighting sex abuse charges.  

During the proceeding, Upham argued the judge was unqualified, and court filings show he alleged law enforcement conspired against his client and withheld evidence. It is unclear if Upham will face disciplinary action.
