Bakers Ordered to Pay $135K for Denying Service to Same-Sex Couple

The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld the $135,000 fine against Christian cake makers Aaron and Melissa Klein after they allegedly refused to bake a cake for a same-sex couple in 2013. So reports NBC News.

The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries initially found the Kleins violated a state law protecting the rights of LGBTQ people in “employment, housing and public accommodations.” The bakers appealed, unsuccessfully, citing the first amendment as justification for denying the service.
