Minardo, who has reached the mandatory retirement age of 76 for elected Supreme Court justices, served as a prosecutor, defense attorney and chief administrative judge in Staten Island, among other roles. His prosecution of reputed mobster John Gotti, who entered into a plea deal after being charged with manslaughter, was one of his most notable cases.
Minardo said he is considering working as a judicial hearing officer or practicing law part-time in addition to traveling and playing golf in his retirement.
