Uber Lawyer Canned After They Allegedly Paid Hush Money to Hackers

Attorney Craig Clark and Uber chief security officer Joe Sullivan were sent packing for their role in suppressing reports of a 2016 data breach. So reports the ABA Journal.

The pair are accused of not only failing to report the breach, but paying the hackers $100,000 to destroy the data and keep quiet. According to Uber, the compromised data impacted 7 million drivers and 50 million riders.

The names, contact information and license plate numbers of 600,000 drivers were stolen. Uber users took steps toward a proposed class-action lawsuit shortly after the announcement.
