Penn. AG Takes Aim at Student Loan Company Over Deceptive Practices

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is suing the student loan company Navient for “deceptive practices and predatory conduct.” So reports the WIVB 4.

The lawsuit could affect “hundreds of thousands” of Pennsylvanians, including those who had private loans from Sallie Mae, a predecessor of Navient.

The lawsuit claims those with low graduation rates were given unfair terms considering it was likely many of the students would not be able to repay the loans. The loan company was also said to have “steered” students into forbearance in order to add interest to the principal of their loans.
