SCOTUS to Take on Ohio Voter Suppression Appeal

The Supreme Court will hear a case regarding the state of Ohio’s system for purging its voter rolls. So reports CNN.

A federal appeals court ruled the state’s method violates the National Voter Registration Act. An appeals court ruled Ohio is in violation of voter laws since it removes voters after six years of “inactivity,” even if the voter has not moved and is otherwise still eligible to vote.

Critics of the state’s policy, like the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio, expressed concerns that the policy is a mechanism for suppression of voters.
