600 Objections in 8 Hours Gets NYC Lawyer Sanctioned

A Brooklyn federal magistrate judge took issue with the volume of objections made by Assistant Corporation Counsel Amatullah Booth during his defense of New York Police Department officer John Essig. So reports The New York Daily News.

Booth, a city lawyer, made 600 objections during the deposition of Essig in relation to a “false arrest and malicious prosecution” case. Despite a warning from the law clerk regarding the appropriateness of the length of Booth’s objections, they went on for eight hours and comprised 83% of the transcript.

Brooklyn Federal Magistrate Judge Cheryl Pollak said the city should foot the bills related to the deposition after opposing counsel complained about the matter.
