The judge ordered the arrest of Brandon Bostian who will now face involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges. The accident killed eight people and injured nearly 200.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office originally announced it would be unable to prove "conscious disregard" when Bostian’s train accelerated to 106 mph around a 50 mph curve. The case was referred to the state attorney general to avoid a potential conflict of interest and Attorney General Josh Shapiro's office is reviewing the case. Amtrak has agreed to pay $265 million to settle claims related to the accident.
