NYT Faces Lawsuit After Overseas Crash Injures Reporter’s Friend

Sarah Maslin Nir, an accomplished writer for The New York Times, is at the heart of a lawsuit against her employer after she crashed a car in Scotland seriously injuring her friend Leah Epstein. So reports The New York Post.

Epstein suffered a “fractured spine, damaged lungs and perforated bowels,” and is asking for $4.75 million from The New York Times because Nir was working on a travel story about the trip at the time of the accident. Epstein is a New Jersey stable owner and was on the trip for Nir to write about Scotland’s horseback riding.

Lawyers for the Times deny negligence and liability.
