DHS Faces Lawsuit Over Cell Phone Searches

The Knight First Amendment Institute is suing the Department of Homeland Security seeking details regarding searches of travelers’’ electronic devices. So reports NBC News.

The group alleged U.S. border officers violated the First and Fourth Amendments when they demanded to see the cell phones of travelers at airports and border crossings. American citizens reported customs officers required them to hand over their phones and either provide their password or unlock their devices. Of the 25 cases detailed in the article, 23 of them involved Muslims with passports.
