Almost 40,000 Eligible in NCAA Scholarship Settlement

Nearly 40,000 college football and basketball players will be eligible to receive part of a $208.7 million settlement without submitting a claim, as preliminary approval of an agreement between the NCAA and plaintiffs was granted. So reports ABC News.

The agreement came as the result of a lawsuit claiming the value of the student-athlete scholarships were "illegally capped." Each eligible person will get close to $6,500.

Students in the class action settlement competed between 2009 and 2017 and did not receive a "cost-of-attendance stipend." The settlement will be paid fully by NCAA reserves and no school or conference will need to contribute.
