The administration also set records for the number of times those requesting documents were not furnished with any data due to inability to locate information as well as outright request denials. Of the $36.2 million spent, the Justice Department accounted for $12 million, Homeland Security Department for $6.3 million and the Pentagon for $4.8 million.
The analysis came at the hands of the Associated Press and was publicized during Sunshine Week, when transparency is highlighted by the press each year.
