Ex-Cop Will Be Retried After Mistrial in Walter Scott Case

Former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager will likely be retried for murder after a judge declared a mistrial. So reports CNN.

After 22 hours of deliberation over four days, the jury was unable to reach a verdict and a prosecutor “vowed” to retry the case.

Slager was accused of killing an unarmed black motorist, Walter Scott, in South Carolina. He will also be tried in federal court on civil rights charges, among others, the story reads. The hung jury was comprised of 11 whites and one African-American, the story reads. One juror said he would not vote for conviction and had no intention of changing his mind. The family’s attorney said jurors were split 11-1, according to his “team’s research, the story reads.
