Man Gets 40 Years After Rejecting Plea That Would’ve Released Him

Raymond Lindsey Jr., of Montgomery County, Texas, rejected a plea deal that would have set him free from prison. As a result, he was handed a 40 year sentence. So reports The Houston Chronicle.

Lindsey was accused of “assaulting a public servant and threatening to kill police officers,” the article reads. Defense attorney Willis Everett Smith said Lindsey was thankful for the offer but declined to admit guilt and said he thought he was the victim of a conspiracy.

After responding to an alleged domestic disturbance, police said Lindsey individually threated to kill each cop that responded to the call and repeatedly slammed a door on one officer’s arm. Questions about the mental health of Lindsey, who has prior criminal incidences, were raised during the proceedings. His attorney said he has been in jail for 19 months.
