Woman Gets Life Without Parole for Killing Infant in Trash Bag

Emile Weaver, who was found guilty for aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence after she reportedly gave birth to a newborn and threw her in the garbage, was sentenced to life without parole. So reports NBC New York.

Weaver gave birth to the infant at the Delta Gamma Theta sorority house at Muskingum University in April of 2015. She said during her trial she thought the child was already dead when she put her in a plastic garbage bag. Weaver apologized for the child’s death.

She plans to appeal the sentence. Judge Mark Fleegle could have sentenced her to life with a chance for parole, but said he was not convinced she was sorry. Weaver texted the man she suspected was the baby’s father: "No more baby," and "taken care of." She was deemed “mentally competent” by the judge after initially pleading not guilty by way of insanity.
