Law Grad Who Couldn't Land Job Loses Suit Against School

A San Diego jury rejected Anna Alaburda’s claim that Thomas Jefferson School of Law used misleading graduate employment statistics to attract her to the school. So reports The New York Times.

Alaburda claimed the school reported a higher number of graduates found work than actually did, and she relied on those misleading stats when choosing to attend the school. Alaburda has more than $150,000 in debt and cannot find a full-time, salaried job as a lawyer, according to the article.

Alaburda’s lawyer argues that the school “did not reveal that its employment figures included such work as a pool cleaner, waitress or sales clerk, and that they were based on a small sample of graduates.” Prior to this case, around 15 other similar suits were “derailed” before reacihng a jury.
