The man, Matthew Hay-Chapman, recognized escaped inmates Hossein Nayeri and Jonathan Tieu, a convicted murderer, and followed them into a McDonald’s. He then alerted the police, who caught Nayeri after a brief chase. They found Tieu hiding nearby in a van.
Two Target employees who tipped off police after spotting Nayeri and a third escaped inmate, Bac Duong, will be awarded $15,000 each. The stolen van owner, Armando Damian, will receive $20,000.
