Bikram Yoga Founder to Pay $7M+ to Victim of Wrongful Termination

Bikram Choudhury, the founder of a popular type of yoga named after him, was ordered by a Los Angeles jury to pay more than $7 million to a woman who alleges he sexually harassed her and fired her for refusing to help him cover up a rape investigation. So reports the Associated Press.

The woman, Minakshi “Miki” Jafa-Bodden, was in charge of legal and international affairs at Choudhury’s Los Angeles yoga school for several years. The yoga founder will pay her $6.5 million in punitive damages and $924,000 in compensatory damages. Choudhury is facing sexual harassment lawsuits filed by six other women, five of whom accuse him of rape.
