NYC Settles Suit After Arresting Black Man for Buying Belt at Barney's

A black man will collect $45,000 to settle his suit against New York City for arresting him and putting him in a holding cell after he legitimately purchased a $349 belt at the Barney’s department store when he was an 18-year-old college student. So reports The New York Daily News.

The young man, Trayon Christian, alleged detectives falsely told him that someone at the store had reported his debit card as a fake. Barneys agreed to pay $525,000 in fines to settle racial profiling claims in 2014.
