Lawyer Fails to Refund Clients’ Cash Despite Impending Suspension for Sex With a Minor

The California State Bar is poised to disbar a lawyer for failing to return more than $120,000 to clients, whom he took on despite knowing he was about to be suspended for unlawful sex with a minor. So reports the Los Angeles Times.

James Mazi Parsa, 50, was convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old, a misdemeanor, in 2001. The conviction resulted in the suspension of his law license in 2014. Parsa then failed to notify his existing clients, whom he mostly represented on loan modification cases, that he would not be their lawyer. A California State Bar judge recently ordered Parsa to stop practicing, but his disbarment isn’t final until the California Supreme Court approves it.
