A prosecutor in Austin, Texas, with an otherwise strong record has been fired from his job for making what the district attorney there interpreted to be inappropriate comments about a juror’s NAACP membership. So reports KVUE.com.

The prosecutor, Steve Brand, had removed a juror from the panel in a robbery case. Regarding that removal, Brand said, "It's not because of race. It's because, in part, she appeared to be an activist, and that's what we don't want. Just as if she was white, we wouldn't want a white activist or a white supremacist." The DA said those statements offended her.
